Presidents Message:
Hello Everyone!
Welcome to a new year with IANN. If you are like me you are so wishing that the beginning of this year would be over soon. Winter is lasting way too long and many of us can't wait until Spring finally arrives. Well, don't worry I am pretty sure it will be here soon.
Just to tell you a little about your new president. I am a nurse at the NICU at Mercy in Des Moines. I have been employed in the unit for almost fourteen years. I have held various positions starting with secretary to staff nurse to manager to educator. I am currently the transport coordinator for the unit. I also have a very busy home life being the mother of three darling girls and expecting a fourth anytime. (But this time it is a boy!)
A am looking forward for a great year with IANN. We already had a great start with our January meeting where we discussed changes to our ByLaws and had an excellent CEU presentation on the new Skin Care Guidelines. If you missed the meeting, check out the minutes later in this issue. There are also highlights of the CEU presentation in this issue. We are looking forward to another CEU offering at our October meeting in Cedar Rapids.
I am very excited that we will be planning yet another RNC review course for April 2009. We will be busy with that in the upcoming months. If you haven't attended this course in the past, this is a great way to study for your certification exam or as a great review.
Last year we did an excellent job of recruiting new members by recruiting 15 new memebers to our IANN family. This year I would like to challenge you in helping us gain even more members. Let's work towards 20 more members. Just tell your co-workers the fun we have and the things we accomplish. Invite them to a meeting!
Don't forget this year's NANN conference is in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida in September. Plan ahead for a fun time and great learning experience!
